Everything Starts with the Right Advice
In international structuring, the most important step is obtaining the right advice from the outset.
Before any structure is implemented, it is essential to understand the wider objectives involved. Asset protection, succession planning, governance, family considerations and long-term investment goals all play a role in determining the most appropriate approach. Tax advice is a critical part of that process, helping to shape structures that are effective, compliant and capable of achieving their intended outcomes.
When key considerations are not addressed early, complications can arise later. Investment flows may become restricted, structures can prove inefficient, and opportunities can be missed. Retrofitting arrangements after implementation is rarely straightforward and is often costly.
This is why early alignment between advisers is so important. While Orbitus does not provide tax advice, we work closely with a network of trusted tax advisers across multiple jurisdictions. Our role is to help ensure that the structures being implemented are aligned with that advice and capable of operating as intended in practice.
That coordination is where experience matters. With in-house knowledge across funds, corporate and private client services, we are able to support the implementation of structures in a way that is cohesive rather than fragmented. Each element needs to work together, not in isolation.
There is also a longer-term perspective to consider. Structures should not be designed solely for immediate needs. They must be robust enough to support future investment activity, changes in regulation and, importantly, the transfer of wealth across generations.
Getting the advice right at the beginning does not just solve today's challenges. It creates the foundation for everything that follows.
